Ramadan 2023 was different—special in a way that went beyond the usual routines of the holy month. As the office manager at Encity Indonesia, I wanted to make sure this Ramadan was more than just another period of fasting and reflection for our team. We had an incredible group of people, all passionate about giving back, and I knew this was the perfect opportunity to do something meaningful together.
We decided to partner with Assalaam Junior High School, a place that holds a special place in my heart. The school, home to many orphaned children, was the perfect community for us to connect with during this month of giving. We spent the day with the students, playing games, sharing stories, and just being present with them. The atmosphere was full of energy, with smiles all around. It was a powerful reminder of how the simplest moments can bring the most joy.
Students and the team shared moments of joy while playing games together, creating lasting memories during our visit.
For me, this day wasn’t just about charity—it was about creating a meaningful experience for my team. I’ve always believed that doing good outside of work has a profound impact on our well-being. It broadens our perspectives, strengthens our bonds, and reaffirms our faith in the goodness of the world. Our visit to Assalaam gave us a chance to step outside our usual circles and connect with a community that might not otherwise cross our paths.
It was a gift to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Watching my team engage with the students, seeing the joy on their faces as they shared laughter and stories—it was a reminder of why giving back matters so much. It wasn’t just about helping others; it was about enriching our own lives by experiencing the true spirit of Ramadan.
A heartwarming moment captured with the Encity team, Assalaam teachers, and students, celebrating a day of connection and shared happiness during Ramadan.
This experience was my way of saying thank you to my team, for all their hard work and dedication. I wanted to give them the chance to connect with something larger than themselves, to feel the fulfillment that comes from giving, and to understand the beauty of human connection. Sometimes, the most valuable gifts aren’t the ones we receive, but the ones we give to others. This Ramadan, we all walked away feeling grateful and fulfilled, knowing we had made a difference in our own small way.
